Depeche Mode Wembley Arena, London, England, UK 1990-11-20 World Violation tour Incomplete audience recording Lineage: unknown taper and equipment -> ... -> cassette (TDK MA-110) -> Yamaha K-340 tape deck (no noise reduction setting) -> RCA -> ASUS Xonar DX -> Adobe Audition CS6 (32-bit / 192 khz) -> channels independently normalized to -3.0dB, DC bias removed, noise reduction (75% 12dB), automatic phase correction (auto align channels, auto center panning, all settings set to most accurate possible) -> WAV (32/192) -> tracks split via cuesheet to FLAC level 8 (24/48 using SoX Resampler plugin) Generation: 2nd gen Transfer: ligushka Cassette tape photos included A superb audience recording. There's very little crowd noise around the taper, and the music is very well audible and clear throughout. "Kaleid" is incomplete, the first few seconds of "Sweetest Perfection" are missing, and there is a small missing segment at the beginning of "Strangelove". About 2 minutes of "Stripped" was on side A, which in my opinion has slightly better frequency reponse than side B. I completed side A's "Stripped" with the complete version on side B to ensure the best sound possible for this transfer. Noise reduction removed most of the hiss, although there are some very minor artifacts during the quieter and acoustic songs if played at louder volumes as a result - I hope nobody will take objection to that. I feel that this is an upgrade over the circulating CD bootleg version ("As Time Goes By"). Though my transfer may have slightly inferior frequency response to that version, I feel that my version sounds better overall and has less noise. This particular tape is more bass heavy than that bootleg version as well. After all, we hear with our ears, not with our eyes :) Many thanks to darkdevoted for generously shipping me this cassette.
